Rosazzo
Wine · PDO · 3 municipalities
Established as a distinct DOCG in 2011, Rosazzo stands apart from its Friuli-Venezia Giulia neighbors through a highly specific blending rule and mandatory patience. While surrounding designations often champion single-varietal whites, Rosazzo's 184 verified producers must craft a precise assemblage led by a minimum of 50% Friulano, balanced with at least 20% Sauvignon and 20% Pinot Bianco or Chardonnay. Cultivated in just three municipalities, including Corno di Rosazzo, the grapes are restricted to low yields of 8.0 tons per hectare. This dry, straw-yellow blend undergoes a de facto 18-month maturation process, legally prohibiting release before April 1st of the second year following harvest.
