Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
Wine · PDO · 189 municipalities
Recognised since 1973, the Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC distinguishes itself from neighboring white wine appellations through strict packaging rules and a tiered vineyard classification. Across its entire production zone spanning 189 municipalities, including Alanno and Acciano, the denomination strictly prohibits both crown caps and pull-tab closures. While the base wine requires a minimum of 85% Trebbiano abruzzese or Trebbiano toscano grapes and a maximum yield of 17.0 t/ha, it is legally barred from using the single-vineyard 'vigna' designation. This label is reserved solely for its four premium subzones, such as Colline Teramane, which mandate lower yields and longer aging for their superiore and riserva classifications.
