Valcamonica IGT, established in Lombardy in 2006, distinguishes itself through rigorous production standards designed for its alpine slopes. Across 24 municipalities, including Angolo Terme, eligible vineyards are strictly limited to foothill and hillside sites below 800 meters above sea level. To ensure quality in this mountain environment, new vineyard plantings must maintain a high density of at least 4,000 vines per hectare. Furthermore, the regulation enforces a strict yield distinction: while generic red and white blends allow up to 11 tonnes per hectare, single-varietal Merlot and Marzemino wines are restricted to a lower cap of 8 tonnes per hectare.
