Chies d'Alpago

In the mountainous Belluno province, the scattered community of Chies d’Alpago governs its territory from the small hamlet of Lamosano. This high-altitude alpine terrain shapes the distinct flavors of 15 overlapping protected denominations. The steep, wildflower-rich slopes provide the perfect forage for bees producing the local Miele delle Dolomiti Bellunesi DOP, a honey protected within a 60-municipality zone. This same alpine pastureland feeds the dairy herds behind the robust Piave DOP cheese. Here, mountain isolation and severe winter climates concentrate the botanical aromas in the milk and nectar, yielding intensely aromatic mountain delicacies.
